Learning to Outsource

As you can judge by the title of this site I am a WAHM (ie Work At Home Mom). For years I resisted the urge to go back to having a “mommy blog”. Let’s face it, my kids are all bigger, or at least they think they are and I do want to separate my business from my kids. That isn’t always possible.

Why do I work at home? Well because I want to stay at home with my kids. We homeschool so a job and homeschooling just isn’t feasible, or at least not without a lot of sacrifice. So I work from home.

I do find myself spending a lot of time working on things that I may enjoy, but take up a lot of my time because I just don’t know how to do them well, or simply just don’t do it often enough to learn. My blog layout for one. This one is ok, but it isn’t how I want it and will continue to get tweaked and tortured until I get it where I want, but it is my “mommy blog” so I am ok with that.

Not so much my business blog. So yesterday I let go of it. I hired a VA. I told her I wanted an updated look. That I wanted clean simple lines. That I wanted the color red, sorry Denise.  She is going to tweak it and make sure it is SEO. I have to admit I am pretty excited. And not only that, I don’t have to worry about it anymore. It is a burden that is lifted off my shoulders so I can concentrate on other work!

So, I know, you may be saying but that cost you money? Well to be quite honest I have spent money other places that didn’t get me the same thing. I think that this is a great investment.

Think of it this way … if you were in an office, and you were in charge, you wouldn’t be doing everything yourself. You wouldn’t be doing the busy stuff, you’d be concentrating on the things YOU were good at, while others concentrated on the things they were good at.

Outsourcing lets you concentrate on what makes the most sense of your time. Just like when you outsource your kids to do the dishes or the laundry or to clean their rooms. Learn to outsource with your business as well.

I know we try but we are not all superwomen! Try it I know you will see the production in it!
